TV to browse internet without computer
With a set-top box connected to the television, it can be used to browse internet without a computer. That is not all, there will be movies on demand and 50 channels to scan without the need of having a cable connection. Then, you can also use the same set-top box for making Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) at rates less than the usual telephone calls.
All these will be a reality when Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will launch its Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) towards September end.
Chief General Manager of AP Telecom Circle of BSNL, S.Ramalingam said that they were carrying out dry runs if IPTV in various locations in the country.
The IPTV will be provided through the broadband and BSNL is creating infrastructure to cover the existing broadband customers. Through the Internet Protocol Television, a special browser software will be provided to allow the consumers browse the internet.
Ramalingam also inaugurated an upgraded version of the Mass Calling Intelligent Network platform for Televoting.
