TWO-WHEELER INDUSTRY GETS A SHOT IN THE ARM
The Two-Wheeler Industry has been struggling to keep the sales going this year as the Heavy Industry Minister says that they would seek more Duty Cuts for the two-wheeler industry.
Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev says that the country was the highest producer of two wheelers and it is not only used in cities but also in rural areas.
The two-wheeler industry is having a rough ride this year with sales plummeting.During the January-November period 2007,the total two-wheeler sales were down by 3.89 per cent at 74,66,601 units as against 77,69,153 units in the same period last year.
The motorcycles segment has been hit the most by raising interest rates as also due to unavailability of credit. Bike sales in the period were down by 7.24 per cent at 60,66,755 units as against 65,0032 units in the corresponding period last year.
