SGT to expand its Indian operations

Chennai based SGT India plans to set up its fourth centre in India at Bangalore by this year end on the back of rising demand from its IT, engineering and business process services from small and medium businesses overseas. The company plans to double its headcount to 1000 people, most of whom are based out of India.

Mr.Kumar Bashyam, founder and CEO, SGT India told reporters in Chennai, “We have already invested over $4 million in India and are planning to invest another $8 million in scaling up our Indian operations”.

SGT India has 250 people in Bangalore, 200 in Chennai at present, he said. It uses knowledge process innovation and management (KPIM) services framework to help customers maximise its revenue and profitability. It has about 45 clients at present.

Mr.Bashyam said the expansion would be founded by private equity investments. Allied capital, which had invested $3.6 million in the company for a 16% stake in 2006, has shown interest in further investments. “But our valuation have gone up since their earlier investment”, he said, adding that it was in talks with a couple of PE investors.
