Infosys to open BPO unit in Mexico

IT major Infosys Technologies said it would soon open a 200 sector BPO facility in Mexico, its first in Latin America, and is also looking at other countries to start such units. Company CEO and Managing Director S.Gopala Krishnan told that they were in the process of moving into their own office, as they spoke. He said that they had taken the office and it would be operational very soon.

He also said that they were looking at approximately 200 seats, right now. Its focus is on BPO right now, he added. He said that they would see their growth and then they would look at other services.

The NASDAQ listed IT and consulting major has just opened a 60 seater BPO facility at the Philippine capital of Manila which will be a ramped up to 700 in an year’s time. Gopalakrishnan said that they would look at other countries to open BPO facilities.

Infosys Technologies Head, HRD, Education and Research, T.V.Mohandas Pai said that Mexico is closest to the Us in the time zone and American clients are very familiar with that country. He said there is a good emerging employee pool there. Infosys which, has employees of around 65 nationalities on its rolls, is also scaling up hiring of locals.
