Infinera to up portfolio at Bangalore unit

Infinera, the Us headquartered provider of products and services, is looking at expanding the portfolio of activity at its Bangalore development centre. The Bangalore centre which was started five years ago currently has around 100 people primarily focused on software developement and testing services.

Jagdeep Singh, CEO, Infinera said that it is looking at leveraging the capability of its Bangalore centre further and bringing in more areas of expertise. Infinera currently has four development centres with three in the Us and one in India.

Mr.Singh said that it would be looking at expanding its skill sets in areas such as hardware design, systems architecture and back-office functions. The high tech company which recently went public has registered revenue of $159 million with a net loss of $99 million. It was founded in 2001 and has around 650 people.

Infinera which has its major customer base in the US and Europe is also looking very keenly at entering the Indian market. Mr.Singh said it is talks with various players for introducing its product.

The company provides digital optical networking systems which essentially enables larger volume of data to go through the networks with higher speed. The company will be focusing on four main markets in Asia-Japan, South Korea, China and India.
