HCL technologies with its integrated services portfolio and increased focus on infrastructure services sits pretty to cash in big on the IT outsourcing pie that’s on offer. Better positioned to crack large deals also seems quite favourable for the company.

Unlike the other IT majors like Infosys, HCL today is more focused on Infrastructure services and gives it a big lead in this domain. Currently, Infrastructure services are contributing 14 percent of the total revenue. And if one takes a look at the future outlook if Infrastructure services, it seems more thatn bright. The demand for infrastructure services is growing rapidly on the back of companies revambing their remote and low cost infrastructure delivery capabilities.

The Infrastructure services market is supposed to grow at a CAGR of 55 percent during the period 2005-2010. Similarly, company’s integrated service portfolio helps better servicing and mining of clients with 20 percent of the total active client base are currently utilising more than one service offered by the company.

Furthermore, HCL being the only vendor from India bidding for the IT and BPO contracts provides a great opportunity to the company to capitalise on deals estimated worth $500 million. Moreover, HCL’s services are well spread across sectors, which give the company valuable presence and visibility.

The recent result of the company showed an increase of nine percent in its net sales for the quarter ended December 2006 as compared earlier. Based on the quarter ending December 2006 results the earnings per Share of the company was Rs.8.20, up from Rs.6.36 a quarter year.

March 27, The largest onshore oilfield in India, in Rasasthan, Cairn India Ltd., said that it expects to find a solution for the evacuation of its crude oil from Rajasthan by June this year.

The government has designated Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, which owns a 30 percent stake in Rajasthan fields and a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corp, as the buyer of Cairn’s crude oil from Rajasthan, but MRPL has expressed reluctance to lift the crude, claiming it is waxy. This has reportedly prompted Cairn, which went public late last year, to look for new buyers.

Bill Gammell, chief executive, Cairn India Ltd said that they continue to be focused on delivering the Rajasthan development and ensuring the upstream project remains on track to produce first oil in 2009.

Cairn India has aligned with its joint venture partner ONGC and intends to become an active participant in midstream activities with a view to optimising value from its exposure to the entire production and oil sales chain.

California Software company Ltd (Calsoft) has partnered with U-Eyes, China to enhance its product, the electronic visor (sun-shield) of a car by incorporating by a flash player in the device.

This software enables the visor in vehicles to serve a dual role, that of shielding from sunrays and providing entertainment. The passengers can watch a film or a music video with tailor made advertisements, while traveling in the cab. The passengers can change the condent depending on their requirement.

Edmund Wu, CEO of U-Eyes Media Technology (Shenzhen) Co Ltd., said that this parterneship had enabled them to create a new unique medium for entertainment. Calsoft’s relatioship with Adobe Systems Inc allows Calsoft to licence, distribute, and integrate the Adobe Flash Player SDK and Adobe Flash Lite into embedded and handheld devices in India, South Asia and the US market.

California Software company Ltd., said in a release that it plans to distribute smart mobile TV visors cabs plying in China. It also has planned to offer incentives to cab drivers to keep their interest levels high when the passenger steps in and the meter is turned on. Another avenue if implementing this would be in golf carts.

The company has sold the concept to palm Springs Golf Club in the US and Sand River Golf Club in China.
