Wipro - 41 percent jump in net profit
January 17, India’s third largest software services firm Wipro Ltd., has reported a 41 percent jump in net profit, at Rs.765 crores, in the third quarter of 2006-07. Revenue increased by 45 percent to Rs 3,979 crores.
A.Lakshmana Rao, Cheif Operating Officer of Wipro Ltd., told that was good quarter for them at Wipro and they saw a lot of traction in infrastructure management services product development and package implementation. He said that the IT business had seen a good volume growth during the quarter.
A company release said that Wipro’s global IT and procucts revenue was Rs 2,876 crores in the third quarter, up 35 per cent on year. Wipro’s chairman and single largest shareholder Azzim Hasham Premji told that the quarter ending March 2007, they expected revenue from their global IT services and products business to be approximately $685 million.
Mr.premji said their financial services and retail businesses had delivered more than 50 percent YoY growth and the Europe geography posted growth-rates ahead of the company average. He also said that they had brought down their attrition rates in both the IT and BPO business.
Wipro’s Chief finance Officer Suresh Senapaty said that the company’s BPO section had registered a growth of 7.1 percent, increasing the operating margin by 60 basic points. According to Mr.sudip Banerjee, President, Enterprise solutions division, Wipro had seen traction in the finance and banking verticalos as well. Mr.Banerjee told that they We had integrated most of the companies they acquired, and their performance was being reflected in Wipro’s balance-sheet then.
